CEO Perspective: Insights from Insurtech Connect 2023

The last week of October marked an exciting time for Tint and the entire insurtech community. Our leadership team, myself included, descended on Las Vegas for the annual InsurTech Connect (ITC) Conference – the world's leading insurtech gathering. This year, we were incredibly excited as Tint was a proud sponsor of the event, and we had the opportunity to unveil some groundbreaking news. But before I get to that, let’s cover the action-packed and informative week we had at ITC 2023.

ITC 2023

For those who may not be familiar, ITC is where leading industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and investors converge to discuss the latest trends, innovations, and challenges in the insurance industry. It's a unique blend of informative panels, engaging breakout sessions, and inspiring demos that set the stage for the future of insurtech.

As I walked into the event, I was amazed by the energy in the air. It was a privilege for me to attend ITC for the past few years, and it was heartwarming to meet and reconnect with so many familiar faces from our industry. The ITC community is known for being welcoming and innovative, constantly pushing the boundaries, and coming up with creative solutions to the challenges faced in the insurance industry.

This year, our booth was a central figure in meeting new faces and reconnecting with many familiar attendees I’ve come to know over the last few years. Attendees were drawn to our booth throughout the weekend, making it a real hub of activity. It was wonderful to see the way our team interacted with this year’s attendees, excitedly talking about how Tint’s end-to-end embedded protection platform helps companies take control of their protection journey. As conferences go, the booth and the swag you offer can make or break your product's success. If you know, you know. Fortunately, we hit the mark with our neon signs, large and inviting countertop space, and Tint-branded clear, blue-light blocker computer glasses. Booth 3135 was the place to be. We even had attendees asking if our glasses were available to purchase.

Tint + RVI Group

But the true highlight of our ITC experience was the moment we had all been eagerly waiting for – our big announcement. We proudly unveiled our partnership with RVI Group, a Group 1001 company. This strategic alliance represents a significant milestone in the world of embedded protection. With Tint, companies can tie relevant protection for intrinsic risks to their customers' core purchases, embedding coverage directly in their checkout experience. The risks associated with these protection solutions can be transferred to RVI Group, enabling Tint to deliver on its vision of making insurance a feature of the buying process, rather than a product bought separately. For me, as the CEO and co-founder of Tint, it’s crucial to demonstrate our commitment to developing embedded protection programs that can mitigate intrinsic risks. Many of our clients have expressed their wish to own a solution without bearing all the risk, which is where RVI Group can help. Our partnership with RVI Group is aligned with our shared objective of making financial products more accessible to a diverse range of businesses and industries by providing intuitive solutions.

The latest buzzword: AI

Each year, it seems a new buzzword takes hold of the panel discussions and this year was no exception. The significance of artificial intelligence (AI) was this year’s buzzword. It's clear that there is a lot of potential with AI. However, in our view, how it will revolutionize the insurance and protection industry, is still to be determined. We certainly see incremental gains that can be leveraged but this year’s conference didn’t make a clear case for AI being at a tipping point in industry change. Overall, the conversation around it still seems to be at a relatively surface level.

Where we did see the opportunity to go into more depth was on the main stage, providing a demo of the Tint platform and the unparalleled data available for underwriting.

The response was overwhelming, with many attendees flocking to our booth to dive deeper into the intricacies of our presentation. At Tint, we've invested our efforts in developing a new layer of data for more curated and smarter underwriting, available in real-time.

Looking Forward

As we conclude our journey through ITC 2023, I am more motivated and energized than ever because while it's essential to think innovatively in the insurtech industry, it's equally important to bring those innovative ideas to life. This is where the rubber meets the road. It's not enough to just have great ideas; it's important to also have the right connections and partnerships that can help bring those ideas to fruition.

That's why places like ITC 2023 are so valuable. It's where industry leaders and innovators come together to network, share ideas, and form partnerships that can help turn their visions into reality. Only by collaborating and working together can we truly push the boundaries of what's possible in the insurtech industry. At Tint, we see, the immense potential embedded protection can offer to businesses, large and small, and we are looking forward to forging new partnerships that will harness this potential for the future.

If you are a business that operates online or an insurance professional interested in learning more about embedded protection, we invite you to connect with us. Our team of protection pros is here to help you explore the exciting possibilities that Tint offers.
