A quick note on how coverage starts, ends, and transfers

Coverage begins after the 30-day and 1,000-mile waiting period. It ends when either the selected term or mileage limit is reached — whichever comes first. Keep manufacturer-recommended maintenance records: they're required if you file a claim. If you sell your vehicle, coverage can transfer to the new owner within 30 days of sale for a $50 fee.

FAQ

Common questions

Does every plan cover the same parts?

No. Powertrain covers the core drivetrain — engine, transmission, transfer case, and drive axle internals. Plus adds major systems like A/C, electrical, fuel, suspension, steering, and brakes. Premium is exclusionary — all vehicle parts are covered except a specific list of exclusions, and it also adds hybrid and EV battery coverage.

Does coverage last for the full number of years no matter what?

No. Your coverage ends when either the selected term is reached or the selected mileage limit is reached — whichever happens first.

Are maintenance items covered?

No. Routine maintenance — oil changes, tune-ups, filters, brake pads, and similar service items — is generally excluded.

Are all vehicles eligible?

No. Vehicles must be model year 2014 or newer, have under 150,000 miles at enrollment, be non-exotic, and be listed on Turo. Eligibility is verified at time of purchase.

Can I buy roadside assistance by itself?

No. Roadside assistance is only available bundled with a Mechanical Coverage plan and is active for as long as the plan is active. It has no waiting period — you can use it from day one.

Can I pick my own mechanic?

Yes. Select any certified mechanic you trust. We coordinate directly with the shop on payment for approved repairs, so you don't have to pay out of pocket and wait for reimbursement.

What happens if my vehicle breaks down far from home?

Trip interruption reimburses up to $100 per day for up to 3 days of lodging and meals when a covered breakdown strands you 150 or more miles from home. Rental reimbursement can add up to $30 per day for up to 5 days if the repair requires 4+ hours of labor.

What do I need to do to keep my coverage valid?

Follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule and keep your records — date, mileage, services performed, and receipts. If you file a claim, these records may be required. Missing records can result in a claim denial.

Can I transfer my coverage if I sell the vehicle?

Yes. Coverage can transfer to the new owner within 30 days of sale for a $50 fee. Maintenance records must be provided at the time of transfer.

Keep your vehicle — and your income — protected.

Mechanical Coverage is available directly through Turo for eligible hosts. Takes minutes to enroll.
